چکیده

Along with the growing need for security, an increasing amount of surveillance content is created. To enable quick and reliable searches on the output of hundreds or thousands of surveillance sensors installed at a single facility, it is indispensable to index the content in advance. For this purpose, the concept of Smart Indexing and Retrieval (SIR) enables cost efficient searches by generating high-level meta data. As creating this meta data manually becomes more and more difficult to handle in reasonable time at reasonable costs, this has to be done automatically from the low-level features extracted by content analysis algorithms. Whereas formerly proposed concepts have been strongly application dependent in this paper a generic concept for mapping the results of the low-level content analysis data to semantic event descriptions is introduced. The constituting elements of this approach and their underlying concepts as well as an introduction to their application are presented. Finally, an example description of a scene is given and the applicability of the approach to great variety of application scenarios is demonstrated.

Traffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding

Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...

Towards constructing an Integrative, Multi-Level Model for Cognition: The Function of Semantic Networks

Integrated approaches try to connect different constructs in different theories and reinterpret them using a common conceptual framework. In this research, using the concept of processing levels, an integrated, three-level model of the cognitive systems has been proposed and evaluated. Processing levels are divided into three categories of Feature-Oriented, Semantic and Conceptual Level based o...

Towards intelligent VR - multi-layered semantic reflection for intelligent virtual environments

This paper introduces semantic reflection, a novel concept for a modular design of intelligent applications. SCIVE, a simulation core for intelligent Virtual Environments (IVEs), provides semantic reflection on multiple layers: SCIVE’s architecture grants semantic driven uniform access to low-level simulation core logic, to specific simulation modules’ application definitions, as well as to hig...
